You know the feeling. She says something, or gives you that look, or questions your intent, and your whole body gets ready for a fight. Maybe you raise your voice. Maybe you go cold. Maybe you start building a legal defense for why you’re not the bad guy.

And then, later, you’re left with the same rotten thought. Why did I do that again?

This roundtable appears to be about the gap between stimulus and response, though Steve and Dan would probably say it in a much plainer way. It’s about the moment a man gets hooked, loses command of himself, and lets fear, pride, or old resentment speak for him.
